Latest news from Tottenham Community Choir - the original and best choir for London N15 and N17

Latest news from Tottenham Community Choir

Our next performance will be on June 3rd at the 'big lunch' from 1.00-4.00 at Downhills School.

We have over 80 regular members but are always pleased to welcome new singers, so -
why not come along and sing along
? We're currently learning a number of new pieces for our next major concert in the autumn, so now would be a great time to join us.

New: Listen and see us on YouTube.

We won the 2011 NatWest CommunityForce award!

Thanks to all of you for voting for us, we now have an extra £6000 in our funds that we will use to buy equipment so that we can do more community performances without having to hire a piano and stuff.

20th October 2011

We had a great evening singing at White Hart Lane for Spurs last week (that's Tottenham Hotspur Football Club for you non-sporty types) and we've got some low-key local choir performances in Haringey over the next few weeks in the run up to our winter concert.

Our numbers are looking really healthy thanks to several new joiners but as usual we're a bit thin in the lower ranges - so come on blokes, how about giving us a try? There's 'two (at least!) girls for very boy'...

19th September 2011

Great singing day at Haringey Food Festival yesterday - photos here, here and here.

8th September 2011

We are performing at 3.10 p.m. on Sunday 18th Sept at Haringey Food Festival
on the Salisbury stage. And a *massive* thanks to Simona Budd, who stepped in to lead our rehearsals while Nick was away on holiday and did a wonderful job :-)

31st August 2011

Next week (6th Sept) we start a new term and it's full steam ahead for the winter concert. We have new members to welcome and new songs to learn!

Well done to all Haringey and Tottenham choir members, and all our fabulous guest artists, who turned out to sing for the Tottenham riots benefit gig at the Millfield!

26th July 2011

Groogh - still recovering from the party last Saturday. Well done to all - especially those who braved the microphone to sing! Thanks to Ewan for being such a great DJ & MC, to Tara for the last minute change of karaoke plans, to Jerry, Jonathan, Hugh, Gwyneth and Fionn for the live music, and to all the committee for making it happen. Plans are afoot to make it an annual event!

Don't forget we're not meeting tonight but we are meeting next week (2nd Aug) and every other Tuesday during the holidays at Park View Academy (go in by the Langham Road entrance). See the members calendar for more info.

13th July 2011

Great singing last weekend at two local school events - the Downhills School barbecue and the Belmont School fair. See the press page for articles.

Our improvised doo-wop/crooner/Xmas medley is coming on a treat - members can listen to our rehearsal.

Tickets for our summer party on the 23rd July are now on sale - you can buy them at the Tuesday rehearsals or email chair@tottenhamcommunitychoir.com if you want to reserve some - it's at The Salisbury on Green Lanes.

5th July 2011

Great singing last weekend at the Downhills School barbecue and the Belmont School fair. Well done to all who could make it to either or both!

Photos from the barbecue are up now (thanks to Jonathan Maris for these) - and a special thankyou to four ex-members who showed up to applaud on Sunday!

Please note that the venue for the summer party on the 23rd July has changed - we're now going to be holding it at The Salisbury on Green Lanes.

Don't we look grand? (and didn't we sound grand as well!)

17th June 2011

STOP PRESS (18th June) - the Prince Igor part one link is up.

The Cantique De Jean Racine is sounding lovely, the sopranos in particular are soaring on the high notes! Also, our new piece 'Prince Igor' is coming along nicely, and is something of a departure for us - I'll try to get a link up today.

It was nice to see some of our new members are already feeling settled enough to join us in the pub afterwards!

8th June 2011

Well done all for a fantastic rehearsal last night and welcome to all our new members - we hope you enjoyed yourselves (it sure sounded like you did!).

A huge thanks to Simona Budd for stepping in at short notice while Nick was called away (to The Albert Hall, no less!), she did a grand job and we made great progress with the Faure and What A Wonderful World (members can download both vocal and instrumental versions from the Music page - email me if you need a login user name and password).

4th June 2011

Hello all – hope you enjoyed your half term break.

We are back as usual on Tuesday – can those of you who have copies please bring along Goldfinger, What A Wonderful World and Cantique De Jean Racine.

Also, we’ll be having a raffle so if anyone has anything they would like to donate please bring it along.

Finally – we’re going to make an effort to be a bit tighter with timing this half term - so please try to be there at about 7.15, ready to start at 7.30.

29th May 2011

What a wonderful performance yesterday was - really great, and the guests at Chloe's wedding were full of praise (some even said they might join us!). I will put photos up as soon as I get them from the photographer.

Please note there is no rehearsal this week (31st May) -
we're back on Tuesday 7th after half term, when we'll be learning some new material and revisiting some old favourites.

25th May 2011

Recordings from last night in the members' area.

Saturday is Chloe's wedding - don't forget to wear something purple on top (if you have a black folder for the music please bring that as well).

we're back on Tuesday 7th after half term.

18th May 2011

15th April 2011

Choir restarts next Tuesday 19th April.

You may have noticed the site is getting a bit of a make over - you may also have noticed I have a bit too much time on my hands. Well, I commute nearly three hours a day and it's quite pleasant sitting on the tube with my laptop - and I'm learning quite a bit about Web design, HTML and CSS as I go (which is also relevant to my work).

There's a new members area that will go live soon - email us for a login if you don't get one at the next rehearsal.

6th April 2011

Many thanks to all our members, who re-elected the entire committee at last night's AGM with a massive vote of confidence. We also welcome Esme Young and Ingrid Lewis, who bring the committee up to its full complement of ten. Please see the minutes on the constitution page for further details.
