Tottenham Community Choir was created, in 2009, by and for local people who wanted to sing together and encourage neighbourliness and a community spirit.
With the help of a 'Making the Difference' Grant from Haringey Council, a steering group made up of local residents, and a charismatic Musical Director, we had our first rehearsal in September 2009. More than 70 people came together to meet new people and, most, importantly sing together.
We first performed in front of the Mayor and a large group of local residents at a Christmas fete in December 2009, and were extremely well received. We gave our first 'proper' concert in St Mary's Church in Landsdowne Road in March 2010, and our next major concert was on July 14th at the Bernie Grant Centre - see http://www.berniegrantcentre.co.uk/pl280.html for details.
We did a number of 'low key' performances during Christmas and new year 2010/2011 including a short set for the Haringey Independent Cinema and a carol concert at the Big Green Bookshop where we were joined by Phill Jupitus.
We engaged a new MD in early 2011, and under his inspired leadership we have put together a revised repertoire and performed it at several highly acclaimed concerts and appearances with more to come - see the news page for details.
We are always looking forward to new challenges and new members.
